Western Stops

Every instructor knows how important transitions can be throughout all disciplines. This session will discuss the progression for teaching a stop using different modalities and discussing various learning styles. Emphasis is placed on the aid used to stop the horse, and the order in which they are used.

Jill Paxton lifelong involvement with horses began with attending horse shows all throughout her childhood. She has served as the Director of Equestrian Studies and Equine Management for the University of Findlay and supervised both English and Western programs. Her training program has produced champions in APHA World, Paint Congress, Pinto World, and Buckskin Congress. She also teaches at Iowa State University. Jill aims to help improve horsemanship by teaching effective aids.
